About us
We are voicing our concerns about the process of how CKP Insurance was replaced by Native Lands Insurance as the crop and drought insurance agent for the Navajo people.
CKP Insurance had a contract with the Navajo Nation through 2028 and lies from Mike Halona fueled replacement of CKP Insurance.
Siunce 2016, CKP Insurance has been loyal and helped the Navajo ranchers and farmers. They have brought in more than $110 million to the Navajo Agriculture Fund and has only sought to serve the Navajo people.
In 2023, through a lawful and just bidding process, CKP Insurance was awarded the contract to be the drought and crop insurance agent to file claim to the United States Department of Agriculture through 2028.
In August 2024, the Navajo government terminated CKP's contract saying that the contract didn't follow Navajo procurement procedures. Their claim is and was false.
The Navajo government, led by Division of Natural Resources Director Mike Halona and Navajo President Chief of Staff Patrick Sandoval, then turned and hired their rodeo friends to take over drought and crop insurance.
Halona and Sandoval created a procurment process that insured Native Lands would be the next drought insurance agent and announced Native Lands insurance as the new agent in early November.
The sad part was that it only left Native Lands three weeks to submit more than 7,500 drought insurance claims. The deadline for submissions was Dec. 1.
CKP tried to reason with Halona, Sandoval, President Buu Nygren, Attorney General Ethel Branch, and the Resources and Development Committee of the Navajo Nation. CKP asked to finish the 2024 applications and then move forward to settle issues after the application period deadline.
Motivated by greed and friendship, they turned their backs on CKP, thus turning their backs on the Navajo ranchers and farmers.
We all know the Navajo ranchers and farmers are the foundation of Navajo traditional lifestyle. We know they carry with them the ways that have sustained our people for generations. We know the Navajo ranchers and farmers do their best to provide for their families. We know CKP has only helped the Navajo people, so why let them go?
Was it greed? Was it becuase Ashkii Yazhi wanted to impress his new rodeo friends? We don't know but we will keep fighting for Navajo Ranchers and Farmers.

The AG tried to say ckp was harassing her bosses
The AG wrote a letter to CKP about harassing Navajo Nation employees. The employees she refered to was the Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren, Chief of Staff Patrick Sandoval and Natural Resources Division Director Patrick Sandoval. One of them was elected by the Navajo people, the other two were appointed and aren't the regular Navajo Nation employee. Nice try AG.
